A commenter on a different post alerted me to this Buddhist teacher, Hyon Gak Sunim. I found this interview with Dennis Wholey of the program, "I Believe," and found it to be a good introduction to Buddhist thought. Thank you for sharing this information with me!

Interesting video. I have studied most "religions" of the world and found that the only one that can feed my soul and give me the peace and joy that everyone is longing for is Christianity. A personal and intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to go. I really enjoyed your blog. God bless, Lloyd
Just stumbled on your blog while clicking "Next Blog" on Blogger. Quite refreshing and thought provoking.
So I listened to "Buddhist Teacher, Hyon Gak Sunim" and it prompted a thought. That to the extent that one can just let the river of internal thoughts and images float by, to that same extent is one able to attend (in a sort of non-attentive way) to the world, especially the world of other people. This I'm sure is not a new thought, and it probably isn't even an accurate thought re: Buddhism (but then this last thought about accuracy would be an example of the problem I guess). Anyway, it was the connection between awareness of awareness, so to speak, and awareness of others that I find compelling.
Thanks for the evocative blog post.
